Under-19 Women’s Team To Participate In Invitational Football Tournament

Wednesday, 27 February 2019 - Singapore will send an Under-19 Women’s Selection Squad to participate in an invitational tournament in Japan next month. The JENESYS 2018 (it's not a typo) Japan-ASEAN Under-19 Women Football Tournament, which will be held from 2-6 March 2019, would take place in Japan.

A squad of sixteen U-19 players hailing from four different secondary schools, six different tertiary institutions and various clubs have been selected by Head Coach Melisa Ye and the Young Lionesses have been drawn in Group B along with Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vicsale Okinawa FC Nabiita Youth.

Group A will pit the Okinawa Prefecture High School Women's Select Team against U-19 sides from Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Japan.

The tournament is part of “JENESYS 2018,” a programme which is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and organised by the Japan Football Association as a platform to encourage a large scale cultural exchange between Japanese and ASEAN youths. (JENESYS stands for Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths.)
