Warriors Climb to 5th with Behe Winner

Captain Yuki Ichikawa can often be relied on to keep the Eagles in the game.

Singapore Premier League's Player of the Month for June, Jonathan Behe continued his fine
form for Warriors as they beat Geylang International FC 1-0 at the Bedok Stadium.

Geylang had the better of the early exchanges with Ryan Shafiqq volleying narrowly wide
after a good chest down from Fairoz Hasan. However, Warriors were the ones who struck first.

Behe rose highest to meet a Shamil Sharif corner, though you can say that the Geylang marking
left much to be desired. This was Behe's 14th goal of the season, keeping him within touching
distance of top scorer Shuhei Hoshino of Albirex.

Warriors then went on to dominate the first half, with Geylang custodian Zainol Gulam having
to make saves from Shamil and Behe to keep Geylang in the game. Ryan again came close for
Geylang, but Mukundan Maran was equal to his right-footed shot from inside the penalty box.

It was the same at the beginning of the second half as Zainol was equal to another Warriors
attempt, this time from a free kick by Sahil Suhaimi. Behe could have added to his goal tally,
jinking his way into the box only to see his shot saved again by Zainol.

Anders Aplin coming on as an auxiliary striker after being sidelined for months by an injury
was a welcome sight for Geylang fans.

Geylang then piled on the pressure, with Maran having to make two great saves. The first was
from Aplin, who had intelligently found space in the box and fired in a fierce shot. The second
was denying Fumiya Kogure's fierce free kick.

The game would come to a close with Warriors midfielder Khairul Nizam trying to relieve the
pressure off his defense but getting a straight red card for a poor challenge on Ryson Yap.

The result leaves Geylang second from bottom in the table and pushes Warriors into 5th place.
