19 June 2017: The Singapore Under-20 National Team, which are led by Head Coach Fandi Ahmad, will travel to Thailand to play three friendly matches as part of a training camp from 17 to 23 June.

“We are grateful for the support of the FAS and the clubs for the Under-20 National Team. As we called up players from Prime League teams, the postponement of their matches is welcome news for us. Ours is a long-term project and such training camps are important for the development of the team to gain international match experience. We believe that this exposure will improve the players, and in turn benefit the clubs as well. We hope to continue to work closely with the clubs in the development of these young players.” said Fandi.

In order to facilitate the training tour, two Prime League matches which were scheduled on 18 June 2017, namely Hougang United FC vs Warriors FC and Home United FC vs Geylang International FC will be postponed to a later date which will be announced in due course.

Amongst some notable names in the squad are Adam Hakeem and Amer Hakeem, both defenders and the sons of Singapore former international Nazri Nasir, Geylang International Prime League starlets Ifwat Ismail and Justin Sim, Hougang United youngster Ariyan Shamsuddin, who featured prominently in Cheetahs Head Coach Philippe Aw's plans this season, as well as 20-year-old Kembangan United defender Abdul Khair Zakkaria, the only player to be called up from the National Football League (NFL).
